Environmental laws and regulations can be used to deter companies from harming the environment in connection to their operations and/or to be held accountable when they do so. All too often, supply chain practices causing environmental destruction also violate human rights, and vice versa. Environmental law leveraged to address environmental degradation by companies often has positive impacts on human rights.
